The Argentine Team Was Surprised to See Indonesia for the First Time, What's Up?

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Argentine National Football Team is said to have been very surprised when it set foot in Indonesia to discuss plans for the upcoming 19 June 2023 match. This was conveyed by the Chairman of the All Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir when announcing the ticket prices for the Indonesia versus Argentina national team match at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (GBK), Monday (29/5/2023)

"When the Argentina team came here, they were very, very surprised by the infrastructure we have, both fields, hotels, airports, and others," Erick explained in a press conference, Monday (29/5/2023).

The current economic situation in Argentina and Indonesia is indeed very different. In terms of economic growth, Indonesia is far ahead of Argentina where Indonesia recorded an economic growth of 5.03% per quarter I-2023 while Argentina still recorded 1.9% in quarter IV-2022.

In the midst of the global economic turmoil following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Argentina was also under pressure. In terms of inflation, it is currently still rising. Argentina's inflation reached 109% in the April 2023 period. This is very far from Indonesia's 4.33% for the same period.

Argentina is also a country trapped in a middle-income economy or middle-income trap. The lack of optimization of human and natural resources makes it difficult for Argentina to become a developed country.
